Lunchtime Gallery Talk with Artist Anne Tait

Anne Tait's artwork straddles areas of historic preservation, art history and fine arts. A gallery talk by the artist on Wednesday, October 14 at noon will offer insight into the processes that Tait uses to approach her art making. “Memento Vitae: The Humanity of the Marble Headstone,” is on view at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center Gallery, September 12-October 28, 2009.

Anne Tait executes her fine-arts work predominately in the area of printmaking, with photography research, drawing and painting serving the ultimate print. The multi-faceted approach she uses to arrive at her final product results in both scholarly accomplishments and pieces of art. Through past sources and empirical observations of memorial art, this exhibition reveals the importance of vernacular artwork in the marble headstones of the 19th century as a means to better understand our place in history. For more on Anne Tait and her work, please visit her website- www.mementovitae.com.

Regular Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays, 1-4 PM or by appointment. For more information, please contact the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center by telephone at (802) 438-2097 or email to info@carvingstudio.org.
