The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center provides exhibition opportunities for sculptors in a variety of venues. One and two-person shows at our gallery, an on-site sculpture park and SculptFest bring creative and cultural exchange to a broad audience. Our collaborators in this phase of our arts education program include Vermont Arts Council, the Town of West Rutland, Chaffee Art Center, the Vermont Marble Exhibit, Castleton State and Green Mountain Colleges.

The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center Gallery
Our gallery is located in the heart of the West Rutland historic business district. The renovated building has hosted many lively exhibits, beginning each season with our popular Annual Members’ Show. The facility is managed in cooperation with the Rutland County Community Land Trust.

SculptFest
At the end of our workshop season, eight to twelve invited sculptors create works that interact with the unique postindustrial landscape surrounding the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center. The resulting sculptures are always eclectic and thought provoking. SculptFest opening receptions are gala affairs featuring live music/performance, a Fine Art Raffle and an opportunity to meet the creators.

Sculpture Garden
The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center Sculpture Garden grew from a symposium that honored Vermont’s Bicentennial in 1991. Visitors find it a relaxing and inspirational oasis in which to contemplate large scale contemporary art in a variety of media.
